Football National Signing Day: Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2027

Updated October 18, 2026. General information, not legal or compliance advice; confirm with the school's compliance office.

The regular signing period for Division I and II football opens at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2027, the first Wednesday in February. Each school sets its own last day.[1]

Who signs in February

Recruits who didn't sign during the Dec. 2–4 early period can sign now, and so can Division II football recruits, who don't have a December early period for high school signees.[1] Division I basketball's regular period opens later, on Apr. 14, 2027.[1]

Using the time between December and February

  1. Widen your list. Look at programs at more than one level, and fit matters as much as level. Peak Prospect's free matches score programs against your profile.
  2. Send updated film and grades. New senior-season film and a fall transcript give coaches a reason to take another look (see how to email college coaches).
  3. Confirm eligibility. Division I needs 16 core courses, 10 of them (7 in English, math or science) done before senior year, and a 2.3 core GPA.[6]
  4. Read every offer in writing.[3]
